Riebeek Kasteel, South Africa – 13 May 2025: Allesverloren is embarking on a new chapter, one defined by a fresh aesthetic, a renewed focus on terroir, and the enduring spirit of a family legacy that propels it forward. The historic, family-owned wine farm today unveils a refined range of wines, exciting plans for a new addition to its portfolio, and an updated website, all part of a significant evolution underway at the seminal Swartland estate, located just an hour’s drive from Cape Town.
The Allesverloren vineyards are situated in the celebrated wine-growing region of the Riebeek Valley in the Swartland. They extend up the Kasteelberg Mountain, benefiting from cold, wet winters and warm, dry summers – ideal conditions for producing concentrated grapes. This unique environment, combined with a rich history and a profound connection to the land, provides the perfect foundation for crafting exceptional and internationally acclaimed wines. The Malan family has stewarded this farm for over six generations, setting the stage for the new era now dawning.
Amongst the tiers of Allesverloren’s portfolio, the Swartland range’s recent transformation reflects an even greater terroir-driven style, shaped by the distinct character of the land and the legacy it carries.
A compelling new blend is also in the offing. ‘The Arsonist’, an exciting addition to be released later this year, will cast light on the Allesverloren story from a fresh perspective, skilfully harnessing both heritage and innovation.
Its renowned fortified range remains the bedrock of the Malan legacy at Allesverloren.
Simultaneously, its new website acts as the estate’s bold new ambassador, reflecting not only its storied history but also the prospects of a bright new future.
A Legacy Honoured, A Future Forged
This new chapter is profoundly shaped by the enduring legacy of Danie Malan. “Nothing proceeds for us without the constant reminder and acknowledgement of Danie Malan, our father, a dear friend and colleague to many, and an icon of the industry,” shares his daughter, Danielle Malan of Allesverloren.
The sentiments of his passing late last year reverberated through the farm’s very name: Allesverloren – All is Lost.
“But far from signifying despair,” Danielle explains, “the name serves as a poignant reminder of the 150-year legacy carried by past generations, borne most recently by Danie, and now entrusted to us. It is also a reminder of the characteristics that have sustained Allesverloren all these years: the courage to pioneer, a tenacious spirit, and core family values.”
Danie’s children, Fanie and Danielle, long-standing members of the executive team, continue to anchor Allesverloren’s narrative, not only as part of the Malan dynasty but also through their extensive skill and experience. They are accompanied by seasoned winemaking and marketing specialists, poised to elevate Allesverloren to new heights. Part of this journey has been to evolve Allesverloren in step with its unwavering promise of quality and consistent excellence.
Early Acclaim for New Vision
“Having the new label for the Swartland collection ranked among the winners at WineMag’s most recent Label Design Awards was a tremendous boost and an indication that we’re on the right track,” states Fanie Malan.
The farm’s entry, represented by the Allesverloren Chenin Blanc 2024, was singled out for its originality of concept, quality of execution, shelf appeal, and effective communication.
