WineKeg has joined forces with OneCircle’s KeyKeg-reseller network to provide crucial support to the burgeoning South African wine industry. Operating from its base in Cape Town, WineKeg will serve as the distributor of KeyKeg to wine producers across the country. These producers seek wine kegs that ensure unwavering freshness, preserve high-quality flavors, and extend the shelf life of their products for consumers around the globe.
Established in 2015, WineKeg introduced an innovative wine-on-tap solution tailored for hospitality businesses dissatisfied with the quality provided by wine-in-box packaging or conventional kegs. By embracing KeyKeg, WineKeg taps into the rising local and international demand for premium South African wines, freshly enjoyed by the glass. KeyKeg’s advanced technology, featuring a laminated, airtight, and light-resistant inner bag, effectively separates the wine and dispense gas, effectively minimizing oxidation and CO2 saturation.
Notably, the concept of sustainable wine-on-tap finds favor among game lodges, resorts, hotels, restaurants, upscale tour operators, and a growing number of home consumers in the region. Each 20 L KeyKeg replaces nearly 27 wine bottles, contributing to a reduction of 16 kg in glass waste. Additionally, KeyKeg slashes the storage footprint associated with bottled wine by more than half, and empty wine kegs can be compacted to further optimize space.
A key feature of KeyKeg is its design for circularity, enabling recovery of the actual raw materials used in manufacturing new KeyKegs once they’re empty. OneCircle, the company behind KeyKeg, is ambitiously building a global network of Return Partners, offering collection or drop-off points for used KeyKegs. As more customers return their empty KeyKegs to OneCircle, the circular content in each new KeyKeg will progressively increase.
