Diners Club International turns 75 this year, and to mark the milestone it has launched the 2025 Diners Club SA Barista of the Year competition. Coffee shops and baristas have from 2 May to 31 May 2025 to submit their entries.
Now in its third year, the competition recognises exceptional coffee craftsmanship—the Day Makers who transform beans into bliss. With no entry fee, it’s a chance for cafés to showcase their star baristas, elevate their brand, and engage new patrons.
How it works
- Each participating venue displays a unique QR code at the till.
- Customers scan the code and cast one vote per till slip for their favourite barista—seamlessly woven into their usual coffee run.
- Diners Club amplifies the competition across its social channels and website for four months, profiling contenders and driving foot-traffic to their cafés.

- Voting period: 21 June – 31 July 2025
- Winner announced: August 2025
The barista with the most verified votes will receive:
- R20 000 cash prize
- A certificate of excellence for display in their coffee shop
- A feature video across all Diners Club social platforms
- A full-length article in Signature Magazine
